About the Speaker

Henry O. Head is a Fayetteville-based photographer whose work spans the genres of journalism, fashion, skateboarding, music, editorial, and more. Originally from Branson, Missouri, Henry packed a backpack and left his hometown at the age of 19 to hitchhike towards the West with a friend. That season of liberation is the backdrop in which he began making photographs. Using analog cameras, the photographs he produces are captured on light-sensitive paper, as opposed to pixels on a digital hard drive. The texture, grain, and colors inherent to film photography are all pivotal in imbuing moments with a hint of nostalgia.
In many ways, the work Henry has made since his initial travels has been a continuum of the inspiration he found at the origin of his creative journey. Whether he’s documenting life in rural America, shooting for brands, doing street photography on his travels, or exploring new possibilities with portraiture, it is the “spark” of those moments that gives his body of work a visual continuity that bridges the gap between reality and dreams.
