BANDALOOP
BANDALOOP returns to the Momentary for a special event—just for our members!
BANDALOOP honors nature, community, and the human spirit through perspective-bending dance. A pioneer in vertical performance, BANDALOOP seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality, intricate choreography and climbing technology to turn the dance floor on its side. An idea conceived by Amelia Rudolph, the work re-imagines dance, activates public spaces, and inspires wonder and imagination in audiences around the world.
Join us for a pre-show screening of award-winning short film SHIFT, followed by a live performance of FLOOD. To conclude the evening, BANDALOOP founder Amelia Rudolph and members of the company of dancers who have performed with BANDALOOP for over a decade will join members in the Arvest Bank Courtyard for an artist talk as we experience and commemorate this unique performance and the artists that make it possible!
Free, registration requested. Register online or by calling Guest Services at 479.657.2335.

MORE ABOUT SHIFT
SHIFT is a wilderness performance in one of the Sierra Nevada’s most rugged, remote locations in Yosemite country. Performed and filmed over two weeks during Summer 2015, the dancers and crew traversed on foot and danced on the sides of Yosemite’s stunning landmarks, including Mount Watkins (elevation 8,500′).
Challenging the boundaries of site-specific performance, SHIFT is historically significant within the canon of American dance, transporting the aesthetic of dancing remotely in wilderness landscapes back to the urban realm. SHIFT is an award-winning short film that honors the source of the BANDALOOP ethos.
Duration: 12 minutes
MORE ABOUT FLOOD
FLOOD is an original performance tailored to the Momentary building with visuals by creative technologist Osman Koç and choreography by artistic director Melecio Estrella in collaboration with the dancers. Featuring projection design inspired by fluid dynamics, a musical score by Ben Juodvalkis steeped in rhythmic fluidity, and choreography unseen since the Momentary’s opening, FLOOD is an exploration of water: its trajectories, its ability to deconstruct, to take our breath away…and its power to make us float.
