BANDALOOP | FLOCK

Vertical performance artists BANDALOOP are returning to the Momentary!
2025 Artists in Residence BANDALOOP premiere their newest work, FLOCK, created onsite during their winter residency. Fresh from Broadway and the international stage, BANDALOOP brings immersive storytelling and groundbreaking creativity.
Inspired by the audacious will of migratory birds, FLOCK gathers the audience for a journey of vertical performances featuring live music. This world premiere includes elements of theatre, performance art, and dance in a collective migration through the Momentary’s architecture.
You’re invited to experience FLOCK in two ways:
- Gather together for the free public performances at the beginning and end of each show in Arvest Bank Courtyard,
- Or, reserve a ticket and join the full 90-minute journey, moving as one flock in and out of the building for the full migration story.
However you choose to see these innovators of vertical performance, this is not a show to miss. With FLOCK, BANDALOOP challenges what is possible in order to transform our relationship with ourselves, one another, and the worlds we inhabit.
FLOCK premieres Saturday, June 7, with preview performances on Friday, June 6.
See you there.
Runtime: Approximately 90 min.
Choreographed and Directed by Melecio Estrella and Damara Ganley.
Original composition and live music by Destani Wolf and Ben Juodvalkis.
FLOCK is supported by The New England Foundation of the Arts (NEFA).

ABOUT FLOCK
FLOCK is BANDALOOP’s vertical dance theater world premiere directed by Melecio Estrella and Damara Vita Ganley, and is led by BANDALOOP in collaboration with the University of Arkansas’ dance company The Movement and choir Schola Cantorum.
A journey in itself, FLOCK brings audiences through the Momentary’s interconnected spaces, transcending conventional performance boundaries through its dynamic spatial exploration and interdisciplinary performance.
FLOCK celebrates the Momentary’s architecture as dancers bring vertical spaces to life, embodying migratory patterns inspired by both avian movement and personal migration stories. FLOCK asks how we can move together—experiencing belonging and placemaking not as fixed states, but as transformative relationships with ourselves, one another, the world we inhabit. Uplifted by a multilingual musical score by Destani Wolf and Ben Juodvalkis, FLOCK humanizes and celebrates the migration experiences alive in all our lineages.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
BANDALOOP
BANDALOOP honors nature, community, and the human spirit through perspective-bending dance.
A pioneer in vertical performance, BANDALOOP seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality, intricate choreography and climbing technology to turn the dance floor on its side. Founded in 1991 by Amelia Rudolph and now under the artistic direction of Melecio Estrella, BANDALOOP re-imagines dance, activates public spaces, and inspires wonder and imagination in audiences around the world. The company trains dancers and youth at home and on tour, and has performed for millions of people in over 300 cities in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia, and on screens in films and digital media.
Based in West Oakland, CA at BANDALOOP Studios, the company incubates and produces work for its local audiences and for touring performances presented around the globe. Education and outreach are an intrinsic part of the company’s mission. BANDALOOP offers regular classes, camps, and intensives for youth and adults at its home studios and in the mountains, and team building programs for executives.
