ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Greyhounds
Keyboardist/vocalist Anthony Farrell and guitarist/vocalist Andrew Trube met and began collaborating over 20 years ago, over a shared love of The Meters. The duo has recruited a number of drummers over the years, including ace Austin session player Russell Lee, who currently occupies that seat. For a decade, Farrell and Trube were mainstays in JJ Grey’s MOFRO, but left in 2016 to focus exclusively on Greyhounds. They’ve released five full-length studio albums and one full-length live record (for Ardent Records and Nine Mile Records) and developed a unique funky Texas sound that Trube describes as “Hall & Oates meets ZZ Top.” The band also frequently records and collaborates with dozens of other Austin musicians in their home studio Bud’s Recording Services.
King Cabbage Brass Band
The party started in the summer of 2021 at Cry Baby Hill, Tulsa’s honky-tonk Mardi Gras, and has been raging ever since. Eight performers driving the groove, fronted by a five-piece horn section, are on a mission to spread joy wherever they go. King Cabbage Brass Band is like a jukebox of funk, soul, jazz, and R&B, with a live show that transcends genre boundaries and captivates the audience with sing along songs that last all night.
Since its formation, King Cabbage has established itself as a regional favorite among people from all walks of life. Performing at festivals like SXSW and FORMAT Festival which featured Leon Bridges and Alanis Morissette, as well as countless concert series, and selling out historic venues, the word is getting out about King Cabbage’s live show. From performing for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Tulsa Drillers, to weddings in Vogue Magazine, and even custom P!NK songs on the roof of the BOK Center, this group gives its all to maximize every opportunity.
King Cabbage is making its mark on the Tulsa Sound by releasing original multi-genre brass band music with a wide range of influences. With Leon Russell’s legendary Church Studio just down the street, the band has found a world-class home to record Tulsa’s own brass band sound.
King Cabbage is a brass band from Tulsa, Oklahoma with a mission to bring people together with joyful music. They are dedicated to honoring the originators of brass band music, working hard to serve their communities, and starting a party in a safe space where all feel welcome.
