So grab your lawn chair, take a sip, and settle in. It’s gonna be a good night.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Kalyn Fay was inspired by her frequent navigation of Highway 412 between Oklahoma and Arkansas, and the intersecting and overlapping nature of highway systems she found on her solo road travels across the continental U.S. In these travels she found that the sound and images of the road bleed into each other over time, a disembodiment of state lines that is no longer marked by signage, but experiences. This performance, incorporating multi-genre artists from both Oklahoma and Arkansas, was curated to ask the listener how we can overlap and intersect, beyond our regional understanding, through the act of collaborative music-making.
Presented on the Coca-Cola Stage.
Free, no registration required.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Honey Collective
Honey Collective is a five-piece band based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Fusing raw jazz, funk and hip-hop grooves, Honey Collective has defied genres since mid-2018. Their members include Aricka Lewis (vocals), Erick Amaya (trumpet), Matt Magerkurth (cello, bass), Walter Ferguson (drums), and Jordan Strickland (keys, guitar, vocals).
Honey Collective began when Walter Ferguson and Jordan Strickland met studying percussion at the University of Arkansas. After bonding over a shared musical interest, they formed a band and frequently collaborated with local vocalist Aricka Lewis. From there the band flourished, collaborating with many local artists. The band has released two EPs and performed all around the Northwest Arkansas area. They have also toured along the Northeast region of the country thanks to a grant received through the University of Arkansas Music Department.
Honey Collective’s newest single, I’ll See You holds a heart and sound reminiscent of classic Soul music. Combining influences of Neo-Soul and Alternative R&B at the climax of the bridge, this song is for fans of Moonchild, Hiatus Kaiyote, and D’Angelo.

An integral member of the jazz/experimental ensemble, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Combs’ compositions have been featured at premier jazz venues in the US as well as international festivals including: North Sea, Montreal International Jazz Fest, Jazzfestival Saalfelden, NYC Winter Jazz Fest, Jazzwerkstatt Bern and Turku Jazz among others.

Combs recently collaborated with Matt Chamberlain on his solo release, “Comet B”, and has produced a number of albums for other artists. His first solo release, “Combsy”, will be released in the fall of 2017 on Horton Records.”

Kalyn Fay
In my songwriting and musical compositions, I explore the relationship of my personal, contemporary Indigenous (Cherokee, Creek) experience with the physical space I inhabit. The musicality of my songs are directly influenced by the terrain of specific landscapes, from the rise and fall of the prairie horizon line to the jutting hills of the Ozarks. My lyrics are used as a tool for personal self-location and an opportunity for the listener to see themselves reflected. My songs and records are heartfelt explorations, vulnerable questioning, and the hope of a shared moment. They act as bridges between my understanding and the ways in which our experiences can intersect. They are for me, they are for you, they are for us.
