ABOUT THE ARTISTS
About 926 – The Stax Music Academy Alumni Band
The Stax Music Academy Alumni Band, “926”, was formed in 2013 as a way to engage Stax Music Academy graduates who were in college but home on summer break. Since then, they’ve played festivals throughout the country and regularly at B.B. King’s on Beale Street and at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.

About The Stax Music Academy
Memphis has given the world some of its most memorable melodies. But whether it’s blues, gospel, rock-and-roll, or R&B, the one thing Memphis music has always had plenty of is soul.
At Stax Music Academy (SMA), a registered 501 (c) (3), they are helping instill soul in the next generation of Memphis artists. SMA is an after school and summer music institute located adjacent to the home of the legendary ’60s-’70s soul record label Stax Records, now the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.
Founded in 2000, SMA exists to continue the legacy of Stax by nurturing the musicians of tomorrow. Since it began programming on June 1, 2000, the Stax Music Academy has educated and mentored thousands of young people to help prepare them for success as adults and, for those who choose music as a career, to become socially conscious and responsible artists. While some of their students are now making their mark in the world as teachers, nurses, social workers, and in other non-musical professions (although many still gig on the side), some are making indelible contributions in the music industry as songwriters, engineers, music business professionals, side musicians, and performing artists.
DJ Raquel
I am a music-loving DJ and aspiring music producer from Arkansas. I started DJing when I was 11. From then on, I knew this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The best part is being able to take people away from whatever they’re going through for a couple of hours and create an atmosphere to let the music heal them. I have been very blessed with such a supportive community and parents who push me to do my best with everything. I have been able to accomplish a lot and meet some amazing people, and I have plenty more things planned. I can’t wait for you to see what happens next.
