ABOUT THE CHEF
Chef Sam believes food brings people together—and that truly great food keeps them lingering at the table. Raised in Miami and surrounded by the city’s vibrant mix of cultures, Sam developed an early appreciation for diverse cuisines. Their passion for Italian cooking took shape while working alongside Chef Mike Pirolo at Scarpetta and later helping open Macchialina in the heart of South Beach.
Sam later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where they became chef of The St. Austere, Macchialina’s sister restaurant, leading the kitchen for six years. Eventually, the pull of family and a slower pace led them to Northwest Arkansas, where they opened their own intimate restaurant, Berretto. Since placing Berretto on pause, Sam has expanded their creative approach to food as the Food & Beverage Director at the MAD Arts Museum in Fort Lauderdale, producing immersive dinners that blend culinary artistry with visual and performing arts. They also collaborate with fellow chefs on pop-ups around Bentonville, continuing to build community through food.
