The Momentary Flag Project: Jaime Carrejo
Visual Art
This event has passed
Using bold patterns and vivid colors, Jaime Carrejo invites us to [echa] pa’lante—meaning “go for it” or “onward,” formed by a conjunction of the words para and adelante. With this flag, Carrejo encourages us to engage in our own dialogue about place and identity, similar to conversations he’s had with family and friends about immigration and nationalism. Look closely, and notice the layered imagery including a broken chain link fence, an olive branch, and a quartered circle—a reference to time.
