BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Holi Festival returns to the Momentary on April 27 with vibrant colors, cuisine, and community. Presented in partnership with the Indian Cultural Association of NWA (ICANWA), the Holi Festival, also known as the Festival of Colors and the Festival of Love, marks the start of spring. Open to all, the festival traditionally celebrates the vibrancy of life and the love of Radha Krishna and has been observed in India for thousands of years.
“We’re welcoming families across the region to join us for a day full of festivities and an exchange of cultures,” said ICANWA Vice President Poornima Majagi. “Festival of colors-Holi is a is an ancient Hindu tradition. It’s celebrated annually and marks the completion of winter. We’ll all come together right here in Northwest Arkansas and commemorate the occasion by sprinkling vibrant, natural powder dyes in the air, covering all in attendance with a bright coat of color. I can’t wait to see everyone there enjoying the vibrancy of life!”
Holi Festival will take place on the Momentary Green and feature fun for guests of all ages, from dancing and drinking to music and colors. Festivalgoers can enjoy the warmer weather with a live DJ, traditional Indian foods, various community members, creative art kits, and Holi pigment powder to throw and enjoy. All guests should expect to get covered in color and participants are encouraged to dress in clothes they don’t mind getting dirty.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming our Northwest Arkansas community members back to the Momentary for Holi,” said Momentary Curator of Food and Community Katie Robertson. “We had a blast last year learning about the cultural significance of this event and enjoying the change of seasons. We encourage everyone in the region to join us this year, whether you’re a returning guest or new to the experience – we know you’ll have an amazing time.”
Holi Festival at the Momentary is free and open to the public, with colored pigments and food available for purchase. The festival will take place on the Momentary Green on April 27 from 11 AM to 3 PM. To learn more, visit momentary.org.
