INVERSE Performance Art Festival Takes Over the Momentary Next Weekend

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — INVERSE Performance Art Festival 2024 will take place at the Momentary November 21 through 24.
The festival will feature more than 45 artists who are in constant interrogation of material, form, and gesture to offer new ideas and perspectives on how we experience the world. Taking place over four days across the Momentary’s campus in Bentonville, guests can expect dance, theatrics, live music, food, and different explorations of performance art.

WHY: A unique opportunity to watch local and national artists at varying levels of their careers push the boundaries of conventional methodologies and invite the audience to join them. INVERSE started right here in Northwest Arkansas in 2016.
HOW: Festival Passes include drop-in admission for all four days of INVERSE 2024. General admission is $25. Members are $20 and students and teachers are $10. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the Box Office at (479) 657-2335.

MORE: In addition to INVERSE 2024, the weekend will also commemorate the opening of the Momentary’s newest art exhibition, Best in Show: Pets in Contemporary Photography. The photography-focused exhibition showcases the relationship between pets and humans. Saturday, November 23, guests can enjoy a day of free, family-friendly festivities from 10 AM – 4 PM at the Momentary’s House Party.

The inclusive performance art platform INVERSE was co-founded by Momentary Curator of Performance, Cynthia Post Hunt, and Chief Curator of the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, Emma Saperstein. INVERSE strives to foster local dialogue about performance on an international scale and build a community of performance artists and supporters, providing opportunities for performance work to be cultivated in the community. The annual INVERSE Performance Art Festival began in 2016 and has been warmly received in its two host locations: Northwest Arkansas and San Luis Obispo, California.

Opened in February of 2020 in Downtown Bentonville, the Momentary is a platform for the music, art, and food of our time. It is a catalyst for creativity and economic vitality, and a welcoming hub that gathers and celebrates local heroes and international stars. The Momentary was founded by the Walton family, based on the vision of Tom, Olivia, and Steuart Walton.
