BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Today, the Momentary announced that Pastry Week will return December 1–6, bringing together bakers and pastry lovers for six days of workshops, films, food and conversation. IACP Cookbook Award-winning author Stacey Mei Yan Fong and 2022 James Beard Award nominee for Outstanding Pastry Chef, Caroline Schiff will return to lead events alongside local cake decorator Stephanie Long of The Cake Occasion. Following its debut in 2025, Pastry Week invites guests to get creative and connect over a shared love of food.
“Food has a remarkable way of bringing people together, and Pastry Week celebrates that spirit through creativity, learning, and shared experiences,” said Sam Lott, associate director of food programs. “Whether guests are decorating cakes, swapping stories around a fire, or learning from some of the most talented bakers in the industry, Pastry Week offers opportunities to connect through joyful forms of culinary expression. We’re excited to welcome both returning chefs and new guests as we continue celebrating food as a pillar of the Momentary’s programming.”
Pastry Week begins Tuesday, December 1 with an orange roll workshop with local pastry chef Annie Clapper, followed by a cake decorating workshop led by Stephanie Long on Wednesday, December 2. Participants will learn frosting, piping and decorating techniques and take home their finished cakes. That evening, guests can enjoy a screening of Matilda paired with a chocolate truffle flight inspired by the film’s famous chocolate cake scene.
On Thursday, December 3, Stacey Mei Yan Fong will lead a cookbook writing workshop drawing on her experience as a baker and author. She’ll discuss how to develop a cookbook concept through telling stories through food and turning individual recipes into a cohesive narrative. That evening, Fong and Caroline Schiff will host an outdoor s’mores meet-up, where guests can enjoy sweets and conversation around the fire.
Schiff, who was named one of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs of 2022, will lead a savory canapé and holiday hosting workshop on Friday, December 4, teaching guests to make three pastry hors d’oeuvres while sharing tips on menu planning and presentation. Canapés, wine pairings and recipe cards are included. The Momentary will also host a screening of Little Women that evening, with cookie decorating during the film.
On Saturday, December 5, Fong will share her expertise on piemaking in a hands-on savory pie workshop. Participants will learn how to make a tender, flaky dough, choose their fillings and take home a pie of their own, with a gluten-free option available. Later that day, Schiff will offer a preview of Monday Diner, her highly anticipated New York City restaurant, with a one-night pop-up featuring her take on classic American diner fare. Stacey Mei Yan Fong will also offer hand-pies during the pop-up, giving guests an opportunity to taste her award-winning pies. Guests can purchase tickets for a prix fixe menu, and walk-up à la carte orders will be available.
Pastry Week concludes Sunday, December 6, with a build your own gingerbread house workshop and a screening of Into the Woods.
Tickets for individual events went on sale to Momentary members October 19 and to the public October 20. For tickets and more information, visit theMomentary.org.
