You Belong Here

The Momentary is a new contemporary art space satellite to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in downtown Bentonville.

Situated along the Razorback Regional Greenway near 8th Street Market, we’ve transformed a decommissioned 63,000-square-foot cheese factory into a multidisciplinary space for visual and performing arts, culinary experiences, festivals, artists-in-residence, and more.

The mission of the Momentary is to champion contemporary art’s role in everyday life.

The Momentary was founded by the Walton family, based on the vision of Tom, Olivia and Steuart Walton. The Walton Family Foundation is supporting this project as a way to enhance the quality of life in Northwest Arkansas. Its commitment to cultivating arts and cultural experiences provides more opportunities for education, engagement, and enjoyment in our region.

Explore the galleries, catch a performance, enjoy a savory bite or refreshing drink, or just hang out. The Momentary welcomes all with free general admission.

Crystal Bridges and the Momentary acknowledge and pay respect to the Osage, Caddo, and Quapaw people and elders past, present and future, offering deep gratitude to the ancestral land and water that supports them. We also thank and acknowledge those Indigenous people who live and work in our communities today.

FOOD AND DRINK

The BreakRoom

The Breakroom reopened on June 10 and will operate at one-third capacity.

No need to take a break from the art—grab a bite or a special drink in this social space located off Gallery 1. It’s a fast-casual restaurant rooted in the idea of modular eating, highlighting the best moments of our region. The design of the Breakroom features a combination of both hard and soft seating, allowing visitors to enjoy food and drink simultaneously with art. It is aptly named as it was the location of the original breakroom in the cheese factory the Momentary occupies.

Tower Bar

The bar reopened on June 10 and will operate with limited capacity. To access the Tower Bar, you’ll need to hop in line via our new text message queuing system. Upon arrival, head to the North Entrance of the Tower, and our host will add you to our queuing system, which will notify you via text message when we are ready for your party. Once you are alerted that your party is ready to be seated, head back to the elevator where an operator will help you queue. Parties are currently limited to 10 people.

We will have the capacity for 40 guests at a time in the Tower Bar. At this time, reservations will not be taken in advance.

Stellar views, better cocktails. Loosely inspired by 1960s airport lounges, the Tower Bar is a high-flying social space offering wine, beer, craft cocktails, and bar snacks in the evening, plus the best views in Bentonville.

MO Friend and Insider-level members can enjoy coffee service and snacks during the day. Ages 21+ starts at 5 p.m.

Our Space

The Momentary’s architecture tells its own story. The building, formerly a cheese plant, was repurposed into a contemporary art space by Wheeler Kearns Architects. The team approached this as an adaptive reuse project, meaning they kept most of the existing building intact, only adding elements when necessary. In this way, they minimized their carbon footprint and use of materials while preserving a piece of Bentonville history.

A map of our spaces can be found here.

What’s up with your arrow pattern?

Thanks for noticing! This arrow pattern, featured on the exterior glass of the Tower, the Container, and main entryway, was created by Oklahoma-based artist Addie Roanhorse. A member of the Osage Nation, Roanhorse took inspiration from Osage attire to create the pattern, paying homage to the history of the land around the Momentary. With this artwork we invite all to think about the Indigenous peoples with a connection to Northwest Arkansas.
